JUDGE TINA YOO:
The Qualified and Committed Democratic Public Servant
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your interest in my race for Dallas County Criminal
Court 8.
My career in public service started 14 years ago when I became
a prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office
upon graduation from SMU Law School. After a decade of service,
I left to work as a criminal defense attorney and an associate
judge for the City of Dallas. But even as my criminal law practice
blossomed into a partnership of a law firm, my desire to spend
more time in public service grew.
I resigned as an associate judge when I filed for elected
office as required by the City of Dallas and was honored to
be the Democratic Nominee for the 5th District Court of Appeals.
The campaign was successful in giving individuals living in
five non-Democratic counties a Democratic option and was nearly
successful overall. In Dallas County, I was privileged to receive
57 percent of the vote.
Currently, I am still with my firm, serving as a criminal
defense lawyer to individuals and consulting in criminal law.
In addition, I sit as the judge for the City of Hutchins and
teach criminal law to local police departments, such as DPD,
and to law enforcement agencies, regulatory specialists, prosecutors
and students around the United States.
My focus on public service has not diminished. I continue
to work within our communities through churches, schools, community
organizations, charities and pro bono legal clinics to improve
the lives of our citizens in Dallas County. I also continue
to outreach and build bridges as a Democrat by helping to create
new organizations like the North Texas Asian Democrats.
My breadth of criminal law experience, combined with Democratic
values and commitment to public service will bring competency,
efficiency, fairness and energy to Dallas County Criminal Court
8. I ask for your support. I pledge to you my service and commitment.
Sincerely,
Judge Tina Yoo
Democrat for Dallas County Criminal Court 8
